Cwm Pwca, Clydach Gorge, Breconshire, Wales
From Welsh for “Puck’s Valley”, Pwca are mischievous shapeshifting nature sprites. There is a Welsh tradition that Shakespeare learned of local Welsh folklore from his friend Richard Price of the priory of Brecon. It is even claimed that Cwm Pwca, or Puck’s Valley, was the original setting for Midsummer’s Night’s Dream.
